We’re back at it again! Join us for our latest series of summer craft workshops, featuring lessons and instructions on how to create a selection of DIY gems; all the crafting material, supplies and tools for the job; a fun environment to socialize with friends; plus a complimentary bar with fancy drinks and light bites.

Watermelon Party Pinatas

Sunday, July 10th (11am-1pm) // $42 per person

Add a pop of color and fun to your next summer party with a super cute handmade pinata! Using basic materials and techniques, learn how to construct and assemble a watermelon shaped pinata that will show off your crafty skills and wow your guests. Fill your fancy fruit with your favorite sweeties and bash it to bits – or – use it as a colorful decoration or centerpiece for your fiesta.

Block Printed Tote Bags

Sunday, August 14th (11am-1pm) // $54 per person

Design a fun and functional canvas tote bag for yourself or for a friend. Using carving tools and raw potatoes, make a selection of custom stamps and create a pattern or print on your tote. Follow the instructor to make pineapples, strawberries and limes or chose to make stamps of your choice. Plus, receive a pretty pineapple party favor!

Painted Pots & Planted Succulents

Sunday, September 11th (11am -1pm) // $46 per person

Dress up your window sill or tabletop with a pretty little painted flower pot perfect for planting a lush green succulent. Create an on-trend geometric design or follow your inner artist and paint a design of your choice, then learn the best techniques for planting and caring for an indoor succulent plant.

Dates must be booked at least 2-4 weeks in advance and are based upon availability. Minimum of 8 guests. A custom craft workshop may be arranged for your group. 2016 Season

Free Outdoor Yoga and LoveShineGlow Trunk Show

We are planning a FREE outdoor yoga class and Trunk Show with our good friend, Petra Axlund Stegman – yoga teacher, meditation coach, and founder of LoveShineGlow. We hope that you can join us for a blissful and fun afternoon on Saturday, September 19th on the lawn at Beech Tree Cottages.

LoveShineGlow TRUNK SHOW is on from 12-4pm and will feature Petra’s line of handmade jewelry including knotted malas, necklaces and gemstone bracelets perfect for use in your meditation practice, as healing tools for good energy, or just as earthy boho accessories to pair with our favorite jeans and tees. Also featured, will be a line of lovely homemade organic body products, scrubs and mists. Everything is made with 100% love.

LivFree Vinyasa YOGA is on from 1-2pm and is open to all levels. No experience necessary. Please wear appropriate attire and bring your own yoga mat and a bottle of water. Rain or Shine. (In the event of wet weather, Petra will perform the class on a tented patio.)

Petra Axlund Stegman has practiced yoga for over fifteen years. She is a certified E-RYT 200h yoga teacher and meditation coach, personal trainer and fitness guru. She teaches at The Yoga Shop of Old Saybrook, Recovery Yoga in Madison, and Beach Yoga at The Mercy Center also in Madison.

Join us for a series of Sunday brunch-time gatherings that are sure to delight and inspire! Our summer craft workshops will feature lessons and instructions on how to create a selection of DIY gems; all the crafting material, supplies and tools for the job; a fun environment to socialize with friends; plus a complimentary bar with fancy drinks and light bites.

Paper Party Decorations: Sunday, June 7th from 11am to 1pm

Finally see your prettiest party dreams come true. Learn how to make and decorate your next soiree with fun and whimsical paper decorations. This workshop includes instruction on giant paper flowers, tassel garlands, and streamer chandeliers. Cost: $48 per person.

Fresh Flower Crowns: Sunday, July 12th from 11am to 1pm

Release your inner bohemian goddess and learn the floral skills necessary to design a gorgeous flower crown, perfect for sunny days and summer nights. Using a variety of stunning fresh flowers, floral supplies and beautiful ribbon, create a full crown or headband of bountiful blooms. Cost: $74 per person.

Beaded Friendship Bracelet & Tassel Necklace: Sunday, August 16th from 11am to 1pm

Design and create a colorful necklace and bracelet set to wear or share. Using seed beads, fiber and wire, you will learn how to design and assemble a trendy beaded bracelet and necklace with tassel accents that will compliment any summer ensemble. Cost: $62 per person.

Antique Industrial Wedding Inspiration

This past September, I collaborated on a gorgeous photo shoot with some lovely local ladies and gents to create an inspired wedding concept, which was recently featured on the go-to wedding blog WeddingChicks.com. We’ve all seen plenty of vintage lace and rustic burlap, so we for aimed for something completely different here. Inspired by the colors and textures of Autumn, we chose to draw on industrial elements like aged metal and old-growth wood, plus antique finishes and sensibilities paired with more feminine bridal wear, timeless make-up and deconstructed hair styles. The outcome was something any sophisticated bride and groom could love.

I worked on designing and styling the event with Jackie Maculaitis of A Grey Soiree and we pulled in some great props and furniture from Sassafras Vintage Rentals, vintage shop English Building Market, and from our personal collections. To create a timeworn look, we combined masculine leather trunks and suitcases with wrought iron fans, a mahogany dinner table with salvaged machinery legs, brass toned candlesticks and jewelry, plus wool tartans, raw linens and tweed. As an added feature, we created a Whiskey Tasting Bar stocked with scotch in vintage crystal decanters served on tarnished silver platters. Jackie created a handsome stationery suite with invitations, menus and table numbers displayed using reclaimed doorknobs. Christine D’Angelo of Azalea Floral Design designed a stunning centerpiece fit for any stately country manor and elegant bouquets incorporating roses and dahlias with structured greens and wispy amaranthus.

 

Chelsea McNamara of Everthine Bridal Boutique and Jennie Fresa of Jennie Fresa Makeup and Skincare Boutiquerie led the beauty team creating gorgeous bride and bridesmaid looks. Chelsea chose chiffon and tulle bridal dresses by Sarah Seven and a deep red Lela Rose bridesmaid gown which beautifully added feminine whimsy to the shoot. Bold lips, sharp eyes and flawless cheeks paired well with the messy updo’s and braids crafted by Jennie’s hair stylist Emily Reale. Photographers HK Photograpy beautifully captured the afternoon with their eye for detail, light and atmosphere.
