Happy Holidays!

1 Dec

Our holiday decorations, ornaments, greeting cards and gifts are all set-up in the shop. Find a sweet and glittering selection perfect for your home or all wrapped up for gift giving. Some of our favorite gift ideas this holiday season include:

(a) Linnea’s Lights Candles – all natural soy based candles handmade in Indiana. The gorgeous winter fragrances make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

(b) Library of Flowers – fragrance, scented lotions, soap, bath oil and shower gel. Choose from three lovely scents: Field & Flowers, Honeycomb, and Linden, which range from floral to sweet to earthy notes. The packaging is beautifully designed – just add a bow for a pretty-as-a-picture gift.

(c) Tinsel Trading ornaments – designed and handmade in New York City with vintage glass glitter and an eye for nostalgic holiday traditions. Who wouldn’t love to receive such a magical gift?

Books are now in stock…

15 Sep

This spring we started carrying two great publications – Uppercase Magazine and Sweet Paul, and both have been really well received in the shop. We’re thrilled because these journals focus on some of our favorite things – art, design, illustration (uppercase) and food, crafts, and lifestyle (sweet paul). Plus, you can really tell that love and a lot of thought go into these – they are well conceptualized, beautifully printed and full of great content and photography. Along these lines, we decided to add some books to our inventory, covering topics from interior design and decorating to crafting and making your own art. Stop in to pick up some inspiration – books are great gifts for yourself and for your friends. Here’s a peak at what’s in stock…

Madison’s Beachcombers Night 2013

20 Aug

Madison’s Beachcomber Night is an annual August event held downtown and organized by the Chamber of Commerce. Local businesses and the community come together for an evening of shopping, wine and beer tastings, good food, live music and entertainment, plus raffles and prizes. We had a great time meeting new people and chatting to old friends, and spotted some of our favorite customers.

This year, we set up our pop-up shop on the sidewalk next to our friends, CT’s Roadside BBQ. If you haven’t tried this barbeque yet, it’s a real must – and the most authentic wood-smoked brisket, pulled pork, chicken and ribs that you’ll find on the shoreline. (Heck, even Texan’s have admitted to loving it!) You can find CT’s truck parked next to The Little Station at the Beech Tree Cottages on most weekends during the summer. BBQ is ready by Noon, and on a busy day they can sell out by 2 or 3pm. If you’re anxious make sure you get there early, like me. (And no, the pit master can’t just throw on another brisket. CT’s meat cooks overnight for 15-20hrs! It’s Slow Food. Not Fast Food.) Here are some pics from Beachcombers Night…

Megan and Anthony

1 Aug

About a year ago, the sweetest bride-to-be wandered into The Little Station. Enchanted and inspired by the shop and the cottage grounds, she was convinced that The Beech Tree Cottages would be the ideal venue for her dream June wedding. We would host and cater the event in-house, with a fresh farm-to-table menu; and, I would act as wedding planner, event stylist and floral designer. Months of planning, design consultations, coffee-fueled crafting and late-night chatting led to a stunning event for a gorgeous couple on a beautiful day. Here are some images from the wedding of Megan and Anthony…
