YOGA AND TRUNK SHOW

We are planning a FREE outdoor yoga class and Trunk Show with our good friend, Petra Axlund Stegman – yoga teacher, meditation coach, and founder of LoveShineGlow. We hope that you can join us for a blissful and fun afternoon on Saturday, September 19th on the lawn at Beech Tree Cottages.

LoveShineGlow TRUNK SHOW is on from 12-4pm and will feature Petra’s line of handmade jewelry including knotted malas, necklaces and gemstone bracelets perfect for use in your meditation practice, as healing tools for good energy, or just as earthy boho accessories to pair with our favorite jeans and tees. Also featured, will be a line of lovely homemade organic body products, scrubs and mists. Everything is made with 100% love.

LivFree Vinyasa YOGA is on from 1-2pm and is open to all levels. No experience necessary. Please wear appropriate attire and bring your own yoga mat and a bottle of water. Rain or Shine. (In the event of wet weather, Petra will perform the class on a tented patio.)

Petra Axlund Stegman has practiced yoga for over fifteen years. She is a certified E-RYT 200h yoga teacher and meditation coach, personal trainer and fitness guru. She teaches at The Yoga Shop of Old Saybrook, Recovery Yoga in Madison, and Beach Yoga at The Mercy Center also in Madison.

Silver & Gold

17 Dec

Every year around this time, we’re sipping on hot chocolate, nibbling on peppermint and turning on the t.v. hoping to catch Frosty the Snowman. (And having nightmares about taking a wrong turn towards the land of misfit toys.) Singing along with Burl Ives to “Silver and Gold”, these glass globes remind us of nostalgic winter wonderlands full of Christmas magic and childlike wonder. Imagine a world of smiling and sweet snowball figurines, spreading snowflakes, glitter and joy! or, charming robins that glisten in the sun. Or, seeing a jolly Father Christmas spreading good tidings to all!

Warm Wishes

13 Dec

Have you sent out your Season’s Greetings, yet? If its the thought that counts, then put some love into the holiday cards you mail out this year. A personalized hand-written note always says more than an overflowing inbox of digitized e-cards. We have a short and sweet collection of cards by Rifle Paper (a little station favorite). If you are looking to send a little something extra, then check out our ornament cards – that’s a card that turns into an ornament! But, if you’re looking for a small gift with big impact, turn to our faceted mercury glass ornaments (at just $4.95), some sparkly and bright earrings (starting at $12), or a cozy scarf for wrapping up tight. Very jolly, indeed.

Back from the City

6 Sep

Last week, we spent a solid two days in New York City exploring the international gift show and wandering around the wholesale district. The show itself is enormous- spanning every floor of Javits Center as well as Piers 92 and 94. Certain items seem to have been trending with vendors, like endless wooden cutting boards, all sorts of ceramic pots, and oodles of pillows and more pillows. (For photos of the show, try here or here.) We saw new vendors plus familiar favorites, and a plethora of talented designers and makers; and found fantastic home accessories and decor, which should be arriving in the coming weeks.

While in the city, nothing quite caught my attention like these sophisticated leather cuffs and bracelets. I’m describing them as “utilitarian chic” – the sleek metallic hardware and deco jewels paired with soft leather are a match made in jewelry heaven. I think they would add edge to a flirty dress or add polish to jeans and a t-shirt. Stop in the shop to try one on for size, or give us a call to have one shipped straight to your door.

Handmade Jewelry

31 May

Over the past few months, I have designed and crafted a line of one-of-a-kind jewels for the curious customer who loves a charming blend of vintage sensibilities and modern aesthetics. The selection shown here features seaside-inspired silver necklaces with swarovski crystals, antique brass necklaces assembled with vintage charms and assorted glass beads, plus pendants created from original artwork and trendy wrap bracelets. No two are alike, so if you see something you love, be sure to snatch it up before it’s too late. For more information, send me a line at shop{at}beechtreecottages{dot}com.

all the best,
